Its been a long time coming, we are so excited to bring to you American Anime artist Aminah Jones, popularly know by her art alias Guillmon, Aminah is well known for her “Black” hentai series called Moon Lite a story of two lovers named after Egyptian royalty. She is the founder of art company called Chenxira and based in Albany, New York, United States.
Q – Tell us about your inspiration that drove you into art (How did it start) and also about your career so far, projects you’ve worked on etc.
A – Well I’ve actually been drawing since I was very young! I remember hearing my mother yelling at me for illustrating images onto the walls around the house! Good times! I have always been heavily inspired by Video games & Old school animes such as Vampire D, Goku Midnight Eye, and even Cowboy Bepop. (Video games: Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Klonoa, Parappa the Rapper, SO MUCH MORE! etc) These animes were made at a time when there was mega amounts of Traditional, 2D animation and hand drawn, painted backgrounds. The vivid display of these illustrations have greatly and always will inspire me. Sometimes when I’m having a lack of inspiration, ill look at these or some other old school anime favs to give me a burst of artistic motivation!
I became a professional Illustrator about 4- 5 yrs ago.
It all began when I created my first manga story; Cherie my Dear Sweetheart and escalated even further when I created the Ethnic Sailor Moon Series.
I just recently completed and release my first Black Love Hentai or Adult Romance; Moonlite Anniversary. My latest projects are My Ethnic Sailor Moon Art Book and my Short Film: Mutual Crush ♥
Q – Who inspires you to push the boundaries like you do in illustration.
A – Oh gosh! You know? This question I’m sure is very hard for any artist or creator. We are inspired by so many things it’s amazing! One second I can be inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away, then the other second I can be inspired by Jim Carries movie; The Mask! I am constantly inspired by the beauty of nature and even my own family. The flow of inspiration is endless.
Q – What have been the biggest challenges you faced as an illustrator.
A- Hmm? The biggest Challenge for me as an artist is perfecting my craft! I have alot of art friends who inspire me and sometimes there art blows me away! It helps me grow you know? It gives me the drive to develop and achieve higher goals! Right now? My goal is to master clouds and lighting!
Q – What have been your most memorable projects and why?
A – My most memorable projects have been Ethnic Sailor Moon and My Adult Romance; Moonlite Anniversary.
Ethnic Sailor Moon is still an amazing journey! Seeing so many artist constantly inspired from a few illustrations I created years ago has been so awesome! I hope to still continue to inspire people with the current series, as well as the new Illustrations!
Moonlite Anniversary ♥ A beautiful short story about a couple who are celebrating their 7th anniversary in Osaka Japan. I wanted to represent a healthy black relationship. We as black people are always displayed as negative people and so are our relationships.. Moment of silence on that one!) They rarely and I mean RARELY ever show a loving couple who truly love, support and are faithful to each other. I’m not saying there perfect, but they know that they need each other to make it! I wanted to represent that with this adult romance.
The story isn’t over by the way! There is alot more in the making ♥
Q – Have you created any characters of your own? (If yes tell us more, if no why?).
A – Oh yes! I have TONS of characters I’ve made on my own. From my manga, Cherie my Dear Sweetheart, Moonlite Anniversary to mega amounts for original characters created from and for different illustrations
I enjoy making my own characters! Where’s the fun in constantly remaking a character that’s not yours?!
Q – Your advice to young illustrators out there
A – Never conform to any specific style! Master your own skills! Yes! There is nothing wrong with being blown away and inspired by other amazing artists but remember to always focus on mastering YOU and YOUR skills! You always want to be seen as your OWN artist, not one who mimics another!
Create and be passionate about your art because YOU love it! Never create anything for the sake of popularity! It’s not about heart or passion when you do it that way!
ALWAYS be humble! No matter how popular you become! Always remember that you were once the unknown, lowly artist no one cared about! ALWAYS Show support and recognition to your fans!
Q – What do you think about the comic industry here in Africa ?
A – I think it’s amazing! I also see you guys doing superb things in animation as well! So excited and looking forward to the phenomenal creations I know that will be coming out oh the Motherland!

A – I have my Ethnic Sailor Moon artwork and illustrations I’m making. As well as my short film; Mutual Crush. For more w please check out my website: www.guillmon9005.com
